Smoke has always been an interesting thing to me. It’s something that isn’t very easy to capture with a camera. Smoke forms strange shapes and pirouettes as it rises. I decided tonight that I wanted to shoot some interesting photographs of it. I setup a really ghetto studio in my bedroom and went at it. I used sticks of incense to make the smoke.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I have been out and shooting as always. I shot a box of 4×5 film, and I also shot some digital today.
There is an annual bonfire in the town next to mine, Hull, every year. I haven’t shot it before so I went out earlier today, and shot some photos of the wood before the fire. I also went out and shot the actual burning as well. Enjoy…

Well I always seem to get myself into strange places/situations. Pretty much every day. Anyways, whenever I go to visit my parents, I take a commuter train. The conductor of the train is best friends with my boss which is always good. I’ve had many cool opportunities such as checking out inside the locomotive, taking photos and stuff like that. Tonight I was in a train car that was completely empty, and I used that to my advantage and took some photos.

Well I shot Pretty Lights and Gramatik last night/this morning, and man was that an interesting experience. I had never shot that genre of music really. The people who were at the concert were an interesting mix of people too. There were some “ravers” as well as some older people. Gramatik set the mood with a nice set, and then Pretty Lights came out to turn the club into a dance party. They played for probably an hour and a half and then finished. I thought the show was over and I started to gather my stuff. They came back out and said that since it’s their last stop on their tour that they’re going to continue the show for another hour. It was great. Anyways, here are some photos from the show

There’s a whole bunch more of photos at the following link of each band.
Well last night I shot 3 bands at the House of Blues Boston. First up was Crime in Stereo who rocked out real hard for the packed house. Second was Glass Jaw. They were the most unprofessional band I have ever had to watch. I shot about 3 photos of them and stopped. They put all of their instruments in a circle, and played with their backs to the crowd. They used 2 stage lights and it was just plain stupid. I am not featuring any photographs on them on here. Anyways, First are a bunch of photos of Brand New.

And now some photos of “Crime in Stereo”

The rest of the images can be seen at this link … Just click on the band you want to see
Well I finished two more… Here are Mark and Kelly’s “Dual Identity” photos.

Well I finished my roommates swine flu shot, and I just finished up shooting my friend Kevin. He was actually on MTV’s Made as someone who wanted to be a tri-athelte… Anyways, here they are

In the past few weeks I have conceptualized as well as started a project I am currently calling “Dual Identity” but that name may change. Anyways, everyone I have ever met has multiple sides to them, not necessarily multiple personalities, but unique things about them that don’t always show. What I have been doing is getting a friend and shooting two photos of them. One photo has them acting as you would see them on most typical days, and another photograph of their unique side. The normal side would be lit on the right side of the image, and the unique image would be lit of the left side. After that is done, I make a sort of diptych of the two images to make one face, combining the normal and unique. Anyways here are a few examples so far.

This is Tyler. He’s a pretty quiet kid most of the time. But strangely enough, he’s an endorsed drummer for SJC Custom Drums (www.sjcdrums.com) and this means he can be damn loud. So I’ve combined him with his SJC hat, drum stick, and the “rock horns, with his normal self.

This is my good friend Tory. He’s pretty crazy most of the time, but he is also somewhat obsessed with his heritage. He loves to talk about being thai. This was the first image I shot in the project, and it was more of just a test. In the image on the left, he has some pad thai hanging out.

This is my roommate Corey. He is just now recovering from the Swine Flu. Anyways, I’ve only shot the unique image of him and this is what I have. I have to shoot his normal image and combine the two. I just think it’s fitting to have one of a person with swine flu.
In the end I’m planning on shooting about 10-12 people. The prints are all 12×18″.
I’m starting my blog over again. I was originally using this for my “Daily Photo Project,” but that whole thing got quite messed up in the month of September/October. I will now be using this blog for updates on big projects, show openings, things pertaining to life, and whatever else I feel like posting. Sorry to anyone who was following the previous project.
