Back to Wompatuck

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

I have wandered into the “off-limits” part of Wompatuck State Park in Hingham many times. But this was the first time I’ve been there with snow on the ground. The walk down the trail is painfully long in the snow. This was 14 inches of un-touched fresh snow. Anyways this is what I shot.

The trail

The fence that is supposed to keep us kids out.

The first building you run into is directly to your right. I’m not exactly sure what it was used for, but has some weird things inside.

Inside the first building. One room has a lot of metal scrap.

The other side has these huge things. Not exactly sure what they were used for.

This is the next building you encounter. Full of crazy graffiti and holes that you can fall into.

Right inside.

There are so many colors inside of this place.

About five minutes further away you run into this huge network of connected buildings. They have weird old lab-stations in them as well as creepy hallways and tunnels.

This is one of the hallways. You can see at the end of it, the building turns and there is another one just like this.

I found these weird exhaust turbine type things. I hadn’t seen them before and I thought they were pretty cool.
There are a lot more photos on my website from this trip. I just didn’t want to put them all on this blog post… http://scotteisenphotography.smugmug.com/Abandoned-Places/Wompatuck-Revisited/

Convey, and the SJC Drum Off at Lincoln-Sudbury High-School

Saturday, December 12th, 2009

Well one of my good friends from college, Tyler, is not just an epic drummer but is also an endorsed artist from SJC Custom Drums. They make some of the coolest, and best sounding kits on the market. Tyler introduced me to the owner at one of the shows I’ve covered. Anyways, last night there was a big show at Lincoln Sudbury High-School and it was ended with a SJC drum off. Also, Convey played. I had never heard them live but I had heard some great things about them. Everyone in that band is so damn friendly and they’re going to make it big some day. I’m supposed to be doing some promo shots for them sometime soon. Here are the shots

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Well Dashboard Confessional and New Found Glory are touring the states on a completely unplugged tour. I have always known Dashboard was great at being acoustic, but I wasn’t sure what to expect about NFG. They were very good! Anyways, here are a few choice photos

A new project in the works… “Coming Home.”

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Hey everyone… So apart from my explosion in the music photography industry I’m also still working on other genres of photography. I’m currently in the planning stages of a project I am calling “Coming Home.” The name may change, but I’m not sure yet. This is a very meaningful project and I’m still confused on the direction I’m going to go with it. It’ll probably become natural when I’m shooting it though.

When I was born, I was put up for adoption. I was born in Jackson, Mississippi. Luckily, when I was around 13, my family found my birth family and we have been in constant contact as well as somewhat frequent visitings either here or down south in Mississippi. I have not visited my birth family down south for quite a bit unfortunately. Come January 2nd, I am flying back “home.”

My project is going to be shot both digitally as well with a large format 4×5 camera. I want to document everything I see and find interesting. It’s such a different world than living here in Boston. The people are different, as is the culture. I’m also going down south with one of my closest friends who has never been to Mississippi. I have a feeling this will help me because he’ll be just as interested in the place as I am. Hopefully I’ll have a mix of portraits, scenics, and maybe even some abstracts? Probably not. Hah.

At the same time I’m down south I’ll be visiting my family who I haven’t seen in a very long time. This trip is going to be great, and I can’t wait to get going on this new project. Check back for updates on it!

All Time Low, We The Kings, Friday Night Boys, and Hey Monday @ House of Blues

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Well I shot the “Glamour Kills Tour” stop here in Boston at the House of Blues last night. It was an interesting show to shoot. The crowd was probably about 10% guys and 90% girls. Pretty funny. Anyways, here are a few photos that I liked from it….

Another Night, Another Show (Saosin, Eye Alaska, Lannen Fall)

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

My music photography has really been exploding lately. I’ve been shooting at the House of Blues a lot, and I’m really enjoying it. Last night, I shot the PacTour. It stopped here in Boston at the House of Blues. It featured Lannen Fall, Eye Alaska, InnerPartySystem, POS, and of course, SAOSIN. I shot every band, but I’m only showing a few photos from Saosin, Lannen Fall, and Eye Alaska.

First up is Saosin
