“Convey” Promo-shoot

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

Well I had a chance to finally do some nice promo photos for my friends’ band Convey. We didn’t really have any great location in mind, so we decided to do it behind my apartment. There are a bunch of apartment buildings that look over that area, as well as the Brookline Public Library with it’s many windows. Needless to say, as soon as we were all set up with the lights, people were curious and watching from their windows. People were driving through and stopping to take a look as well.

The band had the idea of using paint smocks and having a line across them. Not sure why, but it looked interesting. Can’t said I’ve had to roll a line of paint across anyone before during a shoot. Unfortunately, we didn’t anticipate that the paint could go through the protective smocks, so their nice shirts they wore for the normal shots now had blue paint all over them. Oh well… check them out..new album soon… http://www.myspace.com/conveymusic/

Nick Santino

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Had the nice opportunity to do some portraits of Nick Santino. Nick is the lead singer of A Rocket To The Moon. They’re pretty damn popular now. He’s also from Braintree, Massachusetts, which is nice, because he is a local and have some things in common. We shot this in some room in a church. I loved the location. Enjoy.

Jay-Z and Trey Songz @ TD Garden

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Well had another shoot at the TD Garden in Boston. This time it was Jay-Z, who was opened for by Trey Songz. This isn’t really my genre of music at all, but I figured why not expand my horizons?

Muse + Silversun Pickups @ TD Garden

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

Shot Muse and the Silversun Pickups last night at the TD Garden. It was a shoot from the soundboard which was kinda lame. Makes it hard to mix up the shots. Anyways here are a few photos of each.

Some New Film Stuff

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Well one of my instructors at school decided he wanted to challenge us with some sheet/transparency film. He said that if we don’t nail the exposure, the image won’t come out very well, and that there isn’t much room on the film to fix the mistakes. I shot a few frames and I love the result. One exposure is 5 minutes, the other is 1 minute, and the last was a faster one. Check it out!

Fun Hangouts

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Had a nice day. Headed over to Cambridge to the Middle East Club to hang with some friends from the band Lannen Fall. They were headlining a nice little mini-tour the past few weeks. They also had a few other bands with them, a notable one being ‘Sparks the Rescue.’ The Middle East has probably the shittiest lights of any music venue I’ve had to shoot at. I got a lot of good photographs regardless, but I decided to try a high-contrast shot of Alex Roy, the lead singer of ‘Sparks the Rescue.” I really liked how it turned out.

Flogging Molly, Frank Turner, and The Architects

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Well I got credentialed super last minute for this show (about 2 hours before) and I was pumped I got to shoot it alongside a friend, Dan Gonyea, who runs Future Breed which is a rad music photography/promotional site (www.future-breed.com). The Architects opened, which both Dan, and I agreed, were very good. They were so tight for a live performance. Then Frank Turner came on with his band. Awesome as well. Then, obviously, Flogging Molly. That band is a bunch of goofy guys and a gal. They put on a super long set and were a lot of fun to shoot. Some Flogging Molly shots are below.

The rest of the Flogging Molly shots can be seen here… http://scotteisenphotography.smugmug.com/Music/Flogging-Molly/
